50 Cent is trying to make amends for publicly teasing a teen with autism by donating $100,000 to Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. “I want to turn this misunderstanding into an understanding. There are people that are ignored, mistreated and neglected with disabilities that need our support,” 50 wrote on Facebook. “Today, I have made a donation of $100,000 to this worthy cause through Autism Speaks.”

50-cent-instagram-selfie_csx6ez50 Cent caused an uproar across the internet after teasing Andrew Farrell, a Cincinnati airport worker with Autism. He later posted the video on Instagram where people notified 50 that Farrell has Autism and severe social anxiety. The video has since been taken down. In addition to his donation and apology, 50 is also calling on his “fellow musicians, actors, entertainers and all others who may not have fully considered this cause to join together to help in any way they can.”

Thankfully, 50 took ownership for his poor actions and offered a personal apology to Farrell, as well as a public apology for his actions. “While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man,” 50 said. “It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America.”
