Q: Who is Scott Mack?

Scott Mack is an artist, not a rapper, an artist. Its like I’m Bruce Wayne. Mack is Batman. Scott Mack is an artist who represents the outcasts and all the people who were told they’d never be nothing and they couldn’t do it. I’m here for them to show them it can happen. I truly believe I’m a born leader so I’m here to help as many people as possible.

Q: How would you describe your style?

My style is very up beat and positive. My team calls it “country bounce”. I’d say its a mix of street & country. Half my life I lived in the city so on certain records I bring a harder sound but most records its more bouncy with a country twist cause I’ve spent most of my life growing up in the back woods.

Q: What is the “Mack Life” lifestyle?

MackLife is living free. MackLife is the life you wanna live. It’s about chasing your dreams and proving people wrong. Defying the odds and coming up on top. Facing your fears and keeping a smile on your face doing it.

Q: Tell me about your past record deal?

I had dropped my first mixtape called The MackLife Mixtape. I think I was like 20 at the time. My manager, Brooklyn- went to the club and met a producer by the name of Damon “Hasan” Johnson. He heard the joint and we just clicked. It was on from there. I signed a contract under his LC Music Imprint. I’m in the studio with a producer who’s worked with Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Prince Markie Dee, Diddy, the list goes on. I was floating on top of the world. He (Hasan) really showed me the hustle it takes in this business. The drive and how to really sit down and create records. I started being in magazines, went on tour, and was traveling like crazy. I thought I had made it. I spent like 6 years with the LC camp but being young I didn’t understand a lot of the business aspect of this game .Things got crossed, a lot of miscommunication on my part. I had a lot of personal things going on and we parted ways. We’re actually still doing business to this day. That’s my man for life.

Q: What are you working on now?

Right now I’m getting ready to drop my new album “We Own The Night”. It will be ready for download in February. I got the “Rockstars” record featured on the LA Clippers Arena Music Mixtape. I got the “Alive” record featured on the official UK Fashion week Runway 12 project. We got the new “BodyShots” video dropping soon. We gotta performance during the SXWX music festival in Texas in March. We’ve been busy just spreading that Macklife worldwide. My team and I have been traveling the country performing for labels and showcases In Miami ,New Jersey,New York City & Philly anywhere we can rock we go. We been grinding hard and people are really riding with us so I’m humbled. Every city ,every A&R rep, every fan has given us nothing but positive feed back. So were def staying busy and 2013 is definitely going to be our year.

Q: There are 1,000’s of MC’s out there. What sets Scott Mack apart from the pack?

I know my fans know I’m just like them. I don’t try to be better than them. I’m not on some superstar shit. My fans can talk to me. All they gotta do is send me a message and I hit em back cause I’m one of the people.

I think my music speaks for it self as to why I’m different. Plus the Macklife lifestyle, we represent, has caught on like wildfire. People want to be apart of it cause of the free life we embody. The MackLife Nation is gaining followers by the day and were only keep getting bigger.

Q: If you could change something about this industry what would that be?

I love this game but there is just too much cockiness. I get an artist has to be confident and I am confident…trust me, but there’s a thin line between being confident and being a douche bag. I’m a very humble dude. I appreciate the fans and the blessings this business has given me, so I don’t go around bragging too much. A lot of rappers need to eat up some humble pie.

Q: Most Hip Hop artist from New York live within the 5 boroughs, what’s the hip hop scene like in Central New York?

Hip Hop in the 315 is very grimy, underground, a lot of dope battle rappers out here. I guess that’s what separates me from the pack. I stand out cause I’m different . I’m more “mainstream”, whatever the hell that means. I just make records and whatever comes out comes out. The scene is cool tho, a lot of talented rappers.

Q: Tell me something about you that not many people know?

I’m a huge country music fan. Well the old country music. I love Johnny Cash. Cash to me is the best artist of all time.

Q: What’s coming up in 2013 for Scott Mack

We got a lot of shows coming up all over the country, a lot of music videos dropping this year. A lot of websites have been in contact with us, so 2013 we expand the brand ever more. The UK really love the “Alive” record who knows maybe a trip overseas. I can’t wait to rock the SXSW music festival. 2013 feels like its my year.

Q: If you could work anyone in the industry who would that be?

I respect a lot of artists and would like to work with a lot, but right now I’d say I’d like to work with Yelawolf & Rittz. I got a chance to open up for them on the Slumerican tour this year. These dudes are on another level right now. Their live shows are insane and if people haven’t heard of Rittz yet they definitely will soon.
