The Mobile, Alabama based rapper Yung Bleu is currently making people fall in love with Hip Hop all over again. The Rap renegade is making a huge impact with his newest single and new video entitled Go Head, produced by super producer Drumma Boy. The hard hitting song translates well and has made an impact in the crib, the car and in the club. Yo! Raps talks to Yung Bleu about his musical influences, working with Drumma Boy and the different style that he’s bringing to Hip hop.
First of all, can you tell us which city you rep?
I’m repping the 251, and that’s Mobile, Alabama… all day every day.
Can you tell us what the Hip-Hop scene is like there?
The Hip Hop scene in my city is very crowded. Rap is more of like a hobby than a profession to guys there. We have a few who take it serious and they are prospering.
When did you know that you wanted to pursue a career in the music industry?
I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in music after watching my brother do it. I enjoyed it so much. Also I knew I had skills to be a rapper after I wrote my own first two songs and the songs actually had a positive effect on people.
What artists have influenced you and why?
My influences include Do or Die, Bone Thugs and Lil Boosie. They have not influenced the way I act, but they influenced the flavour of my music.
What do you think Young Bleu brings to Hip Hop?
I think I bring a different style to Hip Hop. I know who I am. I don’t try to mimic other artists, I’m just being myself. Also, I bring a clean style to the table by not doing too much cursing. My music is universal.
Currently you are making a huge impact with your new single, Go Head, which was produced by hitmaker Drumma Boy. What is the single about?
Basically the single is just about having fun. The vibe of the song brings energy to the nightlife in the club scene and it captures what party folks really do and how they feel, and people can relate to that a lot.
How did you hook up with Drumma Boy and what was it like working with him?
I hooked up with Drumma Boy in Atlanta while working at Music House Studio. My engineer Dru Castro hooked us up to get a bea
t from him and the end result was the song Go Head. It’s been great working with Drumma; he’s ambitious and always stays positive. We have been working together since the day we met and now it’s a YoungBossEnt/Drumsquad thing.
What other material have you released thus far?
I released my latest mixtape called Hello World on LiveMixtapes.com. It features Rocko, Papa Duck, Spank Lee, Lil Nardy and Bookie.
What’s next for you Yung Bleu? What are your plans in 2013?
My plans in 2013 are simple. I will keep grinding and making good music. My mission is to build a bigger fan base and put on for my city of Mobile, AL.
Where would you like to see Young Bleu five years from now?
5 years from now I would just like to see myself successful – touring, selling merchandise. I would also have liked to accomplish my goal of working with Kanye, Timbaland and Dr. Dre. I think we could make some great music together.
Can you tell us your social networking sites where people can find out more about you?
Please follow me on Twitter @_yungbleu and on Facebook at Yung Bleu… my Instagram is the same as my twitter name. Peace out!
