It’s really bad for Hip Hop. People can’t go see a show without some idiot from a rap crew/drug gang shooting up the place or people getting robbed. Venues are charging promoters lots of extra money to hold Hip Hop events or just refusing to do them at all.
We organized the Underground Music Awards for 12 years in New York City and had to deal to clubs wanting us to pay so much money for extra security, metal detectors, off duty cops, and million dollar insurance policies due to the nature of hip hop artist’s crews that might beef with each other and cause problems.
Treat this music like a business. Leave your thugs at home, back on them blocks, OR give them better opportunities via the music to change their lifestyle.
