OVERVIEW AND BACKGROUND OF URBAN THRESHOLD’S UNDERGROUND MUSIC AWARDS

Urban Threshold’s Underground Music Awards is a national award show that breaks all of the rules of conventionalism. Unlike the Grammy Awards or the Billboard Music Awards, the Underground Music Awards were created to acknowledge and honor the achievements and contributions of unsigned and independent artists within the urban music scene. Every year there are incredible records released by independent labels and artists. Very rarely do the institutional accolades of the music industry reach or embrace independent music or the community of artists and fans who now represent 25% of all global music sales. Hence, the Underground Music Awards Program was born to fill that void.

Urban Threshold’s Underground Music Awards combines the elements of an award show, a music conference, an informational seminar, and an entertainment showcase into one lively event.

Moreover, It features and participants, from all over the world, representing the full spectrum of underground Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel, and Reggae music and fashion as a global phenomenon.

The 3 day event is packed with panel discussions, artist showcases, networking opportunities, product demonstrations and the awards ceremony.

Urban Threshold’s 11th Annual Underground Music Awards Was A Huge Success!

The event was held at the famous BB King’s Theater in the heart of NYC’s Times Square. The award show was a star-studded mega musical extravaganza with performances by the nominees, Hip Hop legends and appearances by film and fashion celebrities. It was another sold out crowd with close to 1000 people in attendance. The award show was hosted by the super sexy and talented Chia Schonberg, She did an amazing job as the hostess! And the DJ for the evening was DJ Styles who was incredible.

The Underground Music Awards highlights the best unsigned and independent artists within the urban music scene. Moreover, the 11th Annual UMA’s honored Music Legends Mr.Cheeks and Michael Bivins. The Hip Hop Icons gave valuable advice to the aspiring artists in attendance and they put on a scorching performance.

The 2015 Underground Music Awards Weekend is tentatively scheduled to take place in NYC on September 18th, 19th & 20th. The legendary BB Kings Concert Hall in the heart of NYC’s Times Square will play host to the awards ceremony. The event will be a star-studded mega musical show with performances by the nominees, featured major label acts and appearances by film and fashion celebrities.

HOW TO SUBMIT MUSIC FOR NOMINATION CONSIDERATION FOR THE 12th ANNUAL UNDERGROUND MUSIC AWARDS 2015

PHASE 1: SUBMISSION PHASE

In order to compete, contestants must submit Two (2) SoundCloud song links or video links, a typed biography including a picture, and phone # via email. In addition submissions will be accepted for models and graffiti artists. The models and graffiti artists must submit 2 photos of their work.

PHASE 2: NOMINATION PHASE

The call for entries will close as of July 10th, 2015. A nominating committee appointed by the executive board will review the submissions. Once the committee has reviewed the submissions, they will choose no more than 6 artists per category for nomination. The nominations will be released on July 22nd, 2015. The nominees will be contacted and notified of their nomination. An artist can be nominated for more than one category.

PHASE 3: FINAL VOTING PHASE

The winners of the Underground Music Awards are determined via Online voting by the general public.

A music clip and the name of each nominee within the individual categories will be placed on UndergroundMusicAwards.com. On August 4th, 2015, the public will be able to vote for the winners of each category via online voting on UndergroundMusicAwards.com. The voting process ends on September 4th 2015. The nominee who receives the most online votes will win for the category he/she is competing in.

The 2015 Underground Music Awards Weekend is tentatively scheduled to take place in NYC on September 18th, 19th & 20th with the actual award ceremony taking place on September 20th, 2015.
