khing wurkHi- Khing Jus Wurk. Let our audience know a little bit about your background.

I am Frank D. Monroe born at Kings County Hospital Brooklyn N.Y from Redhook. I have been in foster care, group homes, juvenile detention and even county jails. Traveled all around the country and not to those pretty places you see in the brochures. I am Wurk, they keep telling me I am going to fail and I just continue to prove them wrong.

What is the meaning of your name?

My name comes from my life, what I believe. Nothing in life will be given to you; you have to work for it. The spelling just makes it easier to distinguish myself from the rest.

What sets you apart from other Hip Hop artists?

My work ethic, I am more than a rap artist. I motivate, workout, model, promote through social media intensely, and attend Full Sail University. They say you have to want this more than your competition, very obvious. My unique selling proposition is welcome to the show; plan on getting back to the performance, which I feel is lost in hip-hop. I want my audience to look forward to my shows and know that every time I’m giving them exactly what they want “That’s WURK!!”

What single or project are you currently promoting?

My current single is “I Am Wurk” available through any online legit media outlet. Its is off my first self released and self publish EP “Wurk Related” which can also be found and downloaded online (ITunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc).

What is the model by which you live by?

“Don’t talk about it. Be about it”! The way my life was set up, I didn’t have family or friends around to help guide my development. I moved around a lot. I was even homeless a few times, and wanted to give up more than I would like to admit. Thing is-  I didn’t!  I “Wurked” to earn mine’s. I want everybody to know they can do the same. You don’t need them and they don’t need you, but if you want something in life go for it. Claim what it is that you desire!

Which artists have inspired you?

Got to name LL of course. He used to sleep on the same train I did, the A. One of the longest trains and warmest (LOL) and look where he is now. Ladies love L and dudes want to be him. That’s what I’m trying to do- but my version. Also Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino was a foster child and did his acting thing (watched Community great show) and now he killing the stage. He overcame the odds. Finally Mr. Shawn Carter “Marcy” baby (Brooklyn, Redhook) don’t gotta say too much. Just look at him still on top of the game.khing jus wurk

Who does your production?

Right now I’m in the lab at Hitt Squad Studios here in Orlando FL and I am loving it! Working with super producer @TheRealPianoBoy (Shaq). They have me sounding right. I have worked with a lot of people, I’m happy that I linked up with them. Also, one of the tracks on my EP “Relax” was created by @WhiteboyLS_SLM real some banger, look him up on SoundCloud. Real fresh talent, eager to work.

What is your opinion of the current state of the music industry?

I’m not a hater. I feel everybody gets their time if they work hard at it. Honestly a lot of people say a bunch of nothing but I got to respect them because they reached a level that I am not. I feel as that there is no substance to the music, its cool. Just not me. Listen to my lyrics, I do not do that. Also, since I have the stage, nasty is not sexy…. okay a lady doesn’t carry herself like most of these gals do. Want a man to respect you, respect yourself. Nothing wrong with having confidence, but like really, is that what you call what your are doing?

If you can change one thing about the music industry what would it be and why?

I would change the glorification of guns. Life through me a curve and I understand and respect the right to bear arms. Just don’t agree with how every other song…every other line is about shooting. That’s not cool. If you believe and really truly want better for the world why encourage everyone to kill each other. I’m anti-strap and I recently started training MMA so I mean this when I say…. put the guns down. Think about it, and if it that serious- Fight, that’s what real men do…if it’s that bad. Guns are a last resort. And if I could change anything in the industry that’s the change I would like to see.

Are there any singers that you would like to collaborate with in the future?

I would like to work with my crush K. Michelle (Hey Boo Boo) then ummm Childish Gambino, Yo Gotti, LL Cool J, Hova, Trina (Da Baddest), The Weekend, Lil Debbie (Ms. Cakes), Chris Breezy and Bruno Mars anybody on the list wanna do a track get at me….I Wurkkk!

What producer would you like to collaborate with in the future?

I want to work with Stevie J (LOL) seriously though see what he did with Ms. Hernandez he works miracles. Pharrell, (Hip-hop first billionaire) Dr.Dre, Rick Rubin (LL Radio), Timbaland (see what he did with Justin and Nelly) and T-Pain (Nappy Boy)

What are some major misconceptions that you think people have of you?

That I am still who I was. That I can’t change. My life wasn’t easy or worse then the next, but it was mines so I come off as angry. Take the time to know me- I’m actually a cool guy. I like to have a great time, very silly and goofy.  Take the time know Wurk and you’ll see I am just happy to be here.

What can people expect at your live performances?

Lots of energy. I go from o-60 in 5 seconds. The crowd feeds of your energy so I’m up there hyped. And now, since I am training at The Jungle Gym MMA, I have new people who want to help me add to my shows like my homie Q and Jada. We about to do some new new so new I don’t even know what it is yet. Just be on the look out for it, because it’s going to be major.

What is your album going to be like?

Its going to redefine the game…wanna expose the lames. People going to hear my LP and be like yea..I feel where he coming from. Wurk be talking the real shhhh. I want you to know I having fun with this. We going to turn-up and never come down.

Any final words for the people.

Yes…I need management and a booking agent. Everybody say invest in your career. I did that. I am very talented can write all genres of music, very marketable and have my brand. Ready to get this money, ready to go to work. Labels ….here I am, SOMEBODY SIGN ME!!!! #Wurkkkk
