Hawaii Alert System Issues False Warning of “Ballistic Missile Threat” From North Korea
The warning went out to various mobile cell phone users’ phones early Saturday morning and said “Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill.” The warning caused a much-warranted commotion, and found many users screenshotting and posting the warning on social media.
However, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and Honolulu Police Department both confirmed the warning was a “false alarm.” The agency went on to say “NO missile threat to Hawaii. False alarm. We’re currently investigating.” The police said “State Warning Point has issued a Missile Alert in ERROR! There is NO threat to the State of Hawaii!”
