Music Biz: JAY-Z Address’s Prince’s Attorney “L. Londell McMillan” on 4:44 Diss track
Add another body to Jay-z’s hit list on 4:44. Check out the lyrics below as Jay talks about the convo he had with Prince and how his estate is blocking a deal with Tidal.
On “Caught Their Eyes,” JAY-Z raps, “I sat down with Prince, eye to eye / He told me his wishes before he died / Now, Londell McMillan, he must be color blind / They only see green from them purple eyes / They eyes hide, they eyes high / My eyes wide shut to all the lies / These industry n—-s, they always been fishy / But ain’t no Biggie, no lazy eye, huh / This guy had ‘Slave’ on his face / You think he wanted the masters with his masters?”
The lyrics are in reference to the Prince estate’s filing legal action against Tidal who wanted to stream the late musician’s entire music catalog on their service. McMillan and his legal team blocked Hov and allowed competing streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to access Prince’s catalog.
Recently, McMillan went on Twitter to respond to the rap mogul’s lyrical jab. He tweeted:
Yes, I heard the track! Not focusing on a diss track now. Focused on not letting WBR control masters. I do like the beat. #Emancipation2
