Music Biz: New Documentary Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G to be released
Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G. bears the special distinction of being the very first to have ever been authorized by his estate. The Mark Ford directed feature will follow the Brooklyn rapper’s widow, Faith Evans, as she elaborates on memories of him as a family man and will include reflections from his mother Violetta Wallace. The cameras will also head back to his old Bed Stuy digs to get a snapshot of the people and places that shaped the gritty yet glamorous perspective Biggie had on urban life.
Lil Cease, Lil Kim and the other members of the Junior Mafia clique will be included in the interview footage, as will Diddy, JAY-Z, and Nas. But most striking will be the ability of the biographers to incorporate Big’s own voice into the production. This thanks to hip-hop journalist Cheo Hodari Coker, who has held on to rare, never before heard audio of him giving some context to his work on his classic debut, Ready to Die.
