Music Biz: T-Pain Suing Young Money for 500K for Back Royalities for Weezy’s Tha Carter IV track
According to TMZ, T-Pain is asking for half a million dollars because he produced Weezy’s single “Got Money” for the chart-topping album. The suit also claims that T-Pain’s artist, Young Fyre, is also owed $500,000 for his production on Weezy’s Tha Carter IV track “How to Hate.” In documents obtained by TMZ, it’s alleged that T-Pain would be paid in royalties after the release of the project. In its 10 years of being released to the public, the album has gone 3 times platinum in the U.S. alone and “Got Money” was one of the biggest records from the project.
It’s unclear what has happened with the payments but it isn’t the first time Young Money has been sued. David Banner took legal action against the company last year for not receiving his royalties for “La La” and “Pussy Monster” on Tha Carter III. He was later awarded $160,000.
