Rapper Shot – Bay Area Rapper Keak Da Sneak Shot Multiple Times

For the second time this year, Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak is in the hospital after reportedly being shot. The 39-year-old MC (born Charles Williams) credited as the leader of the west coast Hyphy movement was said to be in critical condition on Monday (Aug. 21) after being shot several times early Monday morning in front of a gas station in Richmond, California, according to the East Bay Times.

Richmond Police LT. Felix Tan told the paper that officers responded around 5:30 a.m. after a call about shots fired and at press time there were no suspects identified and no known motive, but police were reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine what happened in what officials believe was a “targeted” incident. “They’re working around the clock on this case,” Tan said on Monday night. “We’re hoping to talk to the victim as soon as he gets recovered enough to speak with us.” A spokesperson for the Richmond Police Department could not be reached for comment at press time.

Williams performed a headlining set on Sunday night at the Complex in downtown Oakland. Fellow Bay Area legend Mistah F.A.B., who performed on the bill with Williams the night before, posted well wishes in a video about the shooting. “The big homie made it through surgery, he did get shot, he’s not dead,” F.A.B. said in the clip. “Don’t wait til I’m hurt to try to heal me, care about me while I’m here,” he added in a plea for peace and togetherness.

Keak was reportedly shot in a separate incident on January 20, taking the stage several days later to perform while walking with a cane according to an image posted on his Instagram.
