Russell Simmons (Tweets) in talks with Chance the Rapper to host’ ‘Def Poetry Jam’ Reboot

Russell Simmons in talks with Chance the Rapper to host’ ‘Def Poetry Jam’ Reboot

According to a tweet from Russell Simmons, a reboot of HBO’s Def Poetry Jam may be in the works and Simmons wants hire chance as the host.

“Super excited. Been negotiation with @chancetherapper to host Def poetry jam for HBO. !!! Would you guys like to see that #Emmys,” he tweeted.

A spin-off of the popular Def Comedy Jam, the show originally premiered in 2002 and ran until 2007. Hosted by Mos Def, the series featured a mix of famous and up-and-coming poets as well as celebrities such as Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Mike Epps, Tracey Morgan and Dave Chappelle.
