Music Biz– Tay-K Signs to Record Label Amid Multiple Murder Charges
Tay-K, the teenage rapper known equally for his hit song “The Race” and a series of murder charges he’s currently facing, made news again this week.
The rapper released an expanded version of his #SantanaWorld EP on J Grand’s 88 Classic label. The original project, released in July, featured eight tracks. The re-release has two new remixes: Maxo Kream jumps on “I Love My Choppa,” and both 21 Savage and Young Nudy are featured on “The Race.”
Tay-K is signed solely to 88 Classic, and not RCA Records, the major label with which 88 Classic often partners on releases by Kid Ink and other artists. The close relationship makes sense, as J Grand is both the owner of 88 Classic and the Senior Vice President of A&R & Marketing at RCA.
News of Tay-K’s signing follows false rumors of the rapper’s release from jail, which circulated on social media on Wednesday. The reports were shut down by the rapper’s manager Ezra Averill.
