Prince died from an opioid drug overdose … according to multiple reports on the medical examiner’s testing.

The ME’s Office has been conducting toxicology testing on the singer, and TMZ has confirmed the results point to an “opioid overdose.”

We broke the story … 6 days before his death, Prince had nearly died from a Percocet overdose that forced an emergency landing in Moline, IL … where he had to get a “save” shot.

Percocet is an opioid — a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol) — but the AP report doesn’t specify what opioid was in Prince’s system.

As we’ve reported, Dr. Michael Schulenberg was at Paisley Park the morning Prince died there — and Dr. Howard Kornfeld‘s son was also there with opioids used to treat addiction. Schulenberg’s attorney has said he did not give Prince any meds that morning.
