(Video) #Barcelona Spain Terror Attack. 13 Dead and 100 Hurt
Latest Update (Edited)
Neither of those detained were the driver of the van, police said.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq agency, according to the SITE Intelligence Group.
Police have connected the incident to a house explosion in Alcanar, Spain, Wednesday night. The explosion, which caused part of the building to collapse, killed one person and injured others, police said.
The two people who were arrested were detained in the same town as the house explosion, authorities said.
Spanish authorities have confirmed that at least 13 people have died and 100 have been injured in a terrorist attack in the heart of Barcelona, after a van drove into a crowd of pedestrians in the Las Ramblas area.
One arrest has been made and the suspect is being treated as a terrorist.
It is unclear if he is the person who drove the van into a crowd of people in one of the busiest squares in the city.
Authorities say the vehicle mounted a pavement and struck several people in a “massive crash” in the popular tourist area.
