As French Montana continues to cook up his forthcoming studio effort MC4, the follow-up to this year’s Wave Gods mixtape and 2013’s Excuse My French, the Bronx rapper grabs his homie from the North, Drake, for the fiery cut “No Shopping.” The Noah “40” Shebib and Murda Beatz co-produced cut debuted on Drake’s OVO Sound show on Beats 1 Saturday (July 16).
“Sippin’ on a drank/ all about the mula/ Word to the bird, I ain’t never take her fur shopping,” raps the Coke Boys leader on the hook. After being the target of Joe Budden’s recent beef tracks “Wake” and “Making of a Murderer, Pt. 1,” Drizzy appears to reference Budden’s 2003 smash “Pump It Up” on his verse, spitting, “Pump, pump, pump it up/ She got a good head on her, but I pump it up/ I’m not a one hit wonder, they know all my stuff/ You let me turn into the n–ga that you almost was.”
Budden responded with a meme of the crying Michael Jordan face on the OVO owl and his own record “Afraid,” which also dropped on Saturday (July 16). The introspective track starts with a sample of Drake’s 2010 record “The Resistance,” which appeared on the Toronto rapper’s 2010 debut Thank Me Later.

The New Jersey MC begins, “This so emotional for you, robust such the calm in me/ Easy to put off notes in thugs harmony/ Speak to his insecurity, acting so irresponsibly/ And it’s further impacted by the fact that you respond to me.” He then references Drake’s real name Aubrey Graham: “Wish we could go back and grab the blackberry with the scroll, oh/ Yeah Aubrey that’s the one we trusted/ Not this new Aubrey with his stomach sculpted.”
