It’s been three years since French Montana fanuted the coupe to the Ghost (dawg), but Rick Ross is still creating publicity out of thin air. As recently as a week ago, the excitement levels for Black Market, his third studio album in 21 months, were at a low simmer. But three days ago (Dec. 1), the Miami rapper unleashed “Color of Money,” a single that might have gone unnoticed were it not for the less-than-subtle shots at Drake:

“Color money got your bitch out on a world tour/My lil’ homie made a million on his girl’s tour/We back to back and down to wack a n—a unborn/Miami n—a got ’em changin’ all they gun laws/So run Forrest, got some shooters and they down, too/I got more money then that n—a that you signed to.”

The dispute stems, of course, from this summer’s back-and-forth between Aubrey and Meek Mill, the Philadelphia-bred former battle rapper who’s signed to Ross’ Maybach Music Group imprint.

But today, Ross pulls back the curtain on Black Market in its entirety. His eighth album features a guest turn from Future and Nas (on “D.O.P.E.” and “One of Us,” respectively), but otherwise pulls its guests from the pop and R&B worlds: Cee-Lo, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, John Legend, The-Dream. Production comes courtesy of Jake One, StreetRunner, DJ Mustard, Jahlil Beats, J.R. Rotem and more–not to mention the one-time super-producer Scott Storch. Black Market succeeds the September mixtape Black Dollar.
