1. Define your objectives. Establish short term and long term goals and benchmarks for the campaign first.
2. Determine your target base.
3. Get a promotional budget together.
4. Set a release date for your project.
4. Set a beginning and end date or term for your campaign. (Maximum 3 -6 months)
5. Create a theme for the campaign or philosophical tag line for the campaign.
6. Create images for the campaign and get merchandise with your logo on it.
7. Make a list of all the radio shows, TV shows, websites, blogs, and DJ’s you wish to target.
9. Designate a particular website or online destination that you wish to drive traffic back to. Include the website in all your advertisements.
10. Outline a plan of attack, both online and offline, to get the word out to your target base to inform them about your product or release.
HOW TO EFFECTIVELY WORK A SINGLE: Working A Single Includes The Following: PR/Publicity, Blog Promo, Radio Promo, Video Promo, Geo-Targeting Advertisements, E-Blasts, Shows/Tours, Social Media Engagement, Streaming Promo, Playlisting, DJ Pool Placements, Press Releases, Meet & Greets, and Street Team/Club Promo.
Marketing/Promo Tactics
Viral Marketing – This tactic includes promotion via online social networks, websites, blogs, online magazines and webisodes. It also involves promo via e-blasts and text blasts.
PR/Publicity – This method includes print Interviews like coverage in magazines and newspapers. It also includes radio interviews, T.V. interviews, press tours, listening parties, and press releases.
DJ’s /Coalitions/Digital Pools – This method includes promoting your music via digital blasts, MP3 servicing, digital record pools as well as at DJ meet & greets, DJ retreats, music conventions and seminars

Tours – This approach involves promoting your music directly to fans by way of live performances, showcases, concerts, promo runs at colleges, car washes, rim shops, record stores, etc
