Banks, a Houston high school senior battling stage 4 cancer, had one of her biggest wishes fulfilled when Bey surprised her with the call. It came after Ebony’s fans launched a social media campaign, #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE.
“[Banks] is a really big fan of [Beyoncé] and she has so much love for her that we really want to get [Banks] to meet her,” said Banks’ friend Cristal Depaz. “Beyoncé is one of her idols. She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyoncé’s attention.”
The ploy worked because just a few days later, Bey was on the phone, speaking to Ebony from her hospital bed. The conversation was simple enough— it was all about love.
