New Music (Stream) Nas New Kanye West-Produced Album ‘Nasir’
Nas anticipated Kanye West-produced album, Nasir debuted last night (Thursday) at an exclusive listening party.
The project stands at seven-tracks, the mark of all the Kanye West-produced albums which have dropped consecutively over the past five weeks.
As with all the albums that have been released, Nasir’s listening party was live streamed—this one took place in NYC near near Queensbridge Park in Queens, New York. Guests included Pusha-T, Mobb Deep’s Havoc and Chris Rock. There were technical issues at first but the album was eventually played twice and archived via Mass Appeal.
On the first track, Nas raps, ““Abe Lincoln did not free the enslaved/Progress was made.” And later: “Fox News was started by a black dude, also true.”
The-Dream and 070 Shake also show up on the project, which is Nas’ eleventh studio album and the follow-up to 2012’s super personal, Life Is Good.
“Nas sounds like 2028 Nas,” Pusha T told Angie Martinez of the album earlier this month. “With Nas particularly, ‘Ye is such a fan that he can pull all the greatest moments in seven songs, and update that energy. He knows how to harness that energy, update that energy beat-wise, and Nas just gets to be him.”
Nasir is the fourth Kanye West-produced album to arrive in as many weeks. First up was Pusha T’s Daytona, followed by Kanye’s Ye, and Kanye and Kid Cudi’s collaboration album, Kids See Ghosts. Teyana Taylor’s album will be the last of the Kanye-produced batch to arrive.
