Complex cover star Tinashe made a big splash with her 2014 debut album, Aquarius, which took her all over the world opening for tours led by Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj. Now that she is in the middle of her own headlining tour, her fans are wondering when her sophomore effort, Joyride, will be released. Tinashe has admitted to leaking songs herself as a way to get her music out while she waits for her label, RCA, to get the album rollout going.
While on a quick pit stop in Austin, Texas for SXSW, Tinashe sat down with Complex News and revealed that she is confident Joyride will be released in 2016, saying, “We better see it this year, or else….” Tinashe also spoke candidly about her collaborations with Young Thug and Chris Brown and wanting to work with Kanye West, who she believes “needs more female collaborations.” Check out the full interview above.
