Joey Bada$$ and Troy Ave have never gotten along very well, but Troy took things to a whole new level tonight when he dropped the diss track “BAD ASS on SoundCloud. Over a Yankee-produced beat, Troy goes for Joey’s neck. “You sold a couple records but nobody cares/You never on the radio because nobody cares” he begins, before coming at Joey for being a “filthy backpack rapper” and having a “drug addict face.” He even insults former Pro Era member Capital Steez, who committed suicide in 2012. “Don’t be suicidal like your friend in the casket/Steez burning in hell,” he raps.
The song comes in response to Joey’s line on recent single “Ready,” where he rapped “My ni**a Kirk just outsold Troy Ave.” The pair also went back and forth last June over record sales after Joey called himself the “#1 independent hip-hop artist/brand in the world.” Troy apparently took issue with the comments at the time, calling Joey a “fake independent” on Twitter and listing off some of his big-name sponsorship deals. Although the beef looked to be settled down for a while, between “Ready” and “BAD ASS” it’s clear that the two New Yorkers are still not feeling each other at all.
Wasting no time, Joey came back with a simple tweet.
