Turns out Elijah Wood is a fan of African music. The Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and Wilfred star has teamed with Questlove of The Roots’ Okay-player music site and its Okay-africa sister channel to put his knowledge on blast with a new hour-long mixtape of African tunes that doesn’t disappoint. Wood spearheads the 50th installment of Okay-africa’s Africa in Your Earbuds artist-curated series. The collaboration came about after Okayafrica caught wind of Wood’s love of African music, hearing that he frequents record stores in New York City’s East Village like Good Records and the now-defunct Tropicalia in Furs. Wood also deejays occasionally, and in 2005 started his own record label, Simian Records.
