What a long and amazing life. Maria von Trapp, the last surviving member of the famous Sound of Music von Trapp family, has died at 99 years old. The second eldest daughter of Baron Georg von Trapp passed away last week while in her sleep at her home in Vermont. The young lady and her family became famous when they escaped the Nazis in the 1930s and made their way stateside. That story then inspired the famous musical “The Sound of Music”
